USAID, BP on behalf of its co-ventures, and the American Chamber of Commerce to Support Youth Business Education

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), BP on behalf of its co-ventures in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, Shah Deniz, and South Caucasus Pipeline, and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) today launched a new Youth Business Leadership project in support of professional development of the next generation of business leaders in Azerbaijan.

New Milk Collection Facilities Open in Kurdamir

Two new milk collection centers in Karrar and Garabujag villages (Kurdamir District) of Azerbaijan were opened on November 25, 2012. These Centers were established by the “Community Based Support to Producers of Dairy Products” project funded by USAID/Azerbaijan in partnership the British Petroleum (BP).

On October 23, 2012 the Financial Monitoring Service (FMS) of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan, in partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), presented its newly developed e-learning system to various public and financial institutions.

On April 25, 2012, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with British Petroleum and its partners opened a new milk collection facility in Saritepe village (Shamkir District). The new facility will allow dairy farmers in the Saritepe community to sell their milk to commercial processors, increasing income for local residents.
 
Cattle-breeding and dairy farming are the main occupations in the Saritepe community.

USAID helps small farmers increase income

Khalida, a cleaning lady at the local secondary school, has a small dairy operation. She lives in the Seyidlar community in the Samukh region, which is located 45 km from the city of Ganja. Ganja is the closest market where farmers can sell their milk and dairy products. However, this long distance to travel over unfavorable roads is expensive and causes the quality of the milk to deteriorate, especially in the summer months.  

New Milk Collection Facility Opens in Goranboy

A new milk collection facility was opened on May 19, 2011 in Veyisli village of Goranboy district that will allow dairy farmers in the Veyisli community to sell their milk to commercial processors, increasing income for local residents.
 
Cattle-breeding and dairy farming are the main occupations in the Veyisli community. However, historically, farmers sell only 40% of their total production, with the remaining 60% sold cheaply to middlemen or made into cheese, yogurt, and cottage cheese to be kept through the winter.

USAID and American Chamber of Commerce to Cooperate on Improving Investment Climate

In order to finance criminal or terrorist activities, large and small groups supporting such activities are constantly inventing ways to avoid government authorities tasked with halting the flow of funding. Worldwide, numerous institutions have undertaken anti-money laundering (AML) and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT) initiatives and adopted guidelines and standards to minimize inflow and outflow of illegal money in their countries.
